So if you took your test in an automatic car and needed full licence to hire a car in the USA or an automatic car in the UK. You're saying you couldn't do it as it's not a full licence?Benny2020 said:From the government .gov website
"Manual and automatic cars
You can take the test in a:
- manual car - these have 3 pedals
- automatic or semi-automatic car - these have 2 pedals
If you take your test in a semi-automatic car you’ll only be able to drive automatic and semi-automatic cars once you’ve passed your test."

CAN YOU DRIVE A MANUAL CAR WITH AN AUTOMATIC LICENCE?
It is illegal to drive a manual car if you are licensed to drive only automatics. If you are involved in an accident or caught by the police, you will technically be driving without a licence. Your car insurance will also be void, which would lead to significant legal penalties and may be void if you are involved in an accident.

AUTOMATIC DRIVING LICENCE UK
If you have difficulties using manual gears or a stick shift, then taking and passing the automatic driving test is easier than manual. Remember however that you will only be entitled to drive automatics which could be restrictive when renting cars, using courtesy cars and even purchasing car.

There is no such thing as a "full" driving licence, or a "restricted" licence any more. (Although DVLA still call it a "full" licence)There is a provisional licence which is a different colour, says Provisional Driving Licence and has a big L on itOnce you pass a test you gain the entitlement to drive a class of vehicle, and exchange your provisional licence for a driving licence, which only says Driving Licence on it.You can only drive the classes of vehicle on the licence, that your test covered, in the case of the current argument, it will be class B auto.It is still what people understand as a "Full" licence though, but only for autos. Dot Gov go on about 2 pedal being auto, 3 pedal being manual, so I can't see a paddle shift or modified semi auto counting as anything but auto.So any 2 pedal car, electric, PHEV, hybrid, hydrogen, atomic etc would only gain you an auto licence.Similarly, if you have a class A1 then you still have a "full" licence, but only for tiny motorbikes.I don't even have class B, my Olden Days licence is for AD&E, which is odd, as A covers B,C&E, yet they felt the need to state E explicitly. B was auto only, E moped, C trike, D motorcycle.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I think you are having an argument on your own, i don't have an opinion, i am quoting from the gov website.
Go and argue with them.1 -
Interesting times. Youngsters are also passing their test in cars with auto handbrakes and hill start assist, their first car is unlikely to have either.

Provisional licence means you need to be supervised. Full licence means you don't.Benny2020 said:I think you are having an argument on your own, i don't have an opinion, i am quoting from the gov website.

All dependant on the class of vehicle because by your logic the only full incense means you've passed every test.
You're full car licence is also restricted by your logic as you can't drive a LGV or PSV without passing another test.2
