I have 4 credit cards -
I'm having a deputyship because social services say I lack capacity with my finances (schizoaffective disorder) I have to get rid off all credit lines.
I asked the team leader at Country Hall if I can keep a credit card for purchasing plane tickets when I go abroad and have an emergency card while abroad too (I go away at lease 4 times a year) He said it was okay with them if I continue to manage the account well but have to get rid of all my other credit lines
Should I keep the barclaycard or capital one card. Which is the better card. I'm thinking barclaycard as its more widely known and not seen as a person with bad credit card. Am I right?
- capital one - £1250 limit - I think 28% APR
- Barclaycard Forward - £1200 limit 29.9 APR (goes down another 2% in 9 months as always paid on time)
- Vanquis - £500 limit - APR?
- Post Office - £200 limit - APR?

I would keep one Mastercard (Capital One or Post Office) and one Visa (Vanquis or Barclaycard).#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

It doesn't matter which is more widely known or whether you think a card is for people with bad credit. They all work exactly the same.
Choose the one which has the most suitable features for you. The cap one card has a higher limit and lower APR, for example.1 -
By keeping the Barclaycard forwards card - if you're managing the account well (as it appears you are) - no late payments etc. Over time with good history, you may be able to 'change cards' in-app to the rewards cash back card. That would be a useful card for international travel, as there are no foreign exchange fees on overseas transactions and cash withdrawals (as long as you say, you're able to manage the card appropriately). There wouldn't be a credit check to change the card to another type, and it will show in the app when you qualify for a card swap.1
