How to home-repair a Dyson DC-01 ? Hose keeps separating from plastic cuff on the wand !

In the past we've had the hose split at the top of where it attaches to the wand. It wasn't completely separated at that time, it was just a bad tear i.e. was nearly torn away from the rest of the flexible hose material.
Obviously, that made the Dyson unusable(!) as the air then escaped before it reaches the floor/surface. :-(

A local repair shop did a good job. I remember at the time that he said that to get the job done he had to cut off the damaged hose & had to reattach the non-torn part of the hose. This therefore shortened the hose by a few inches, but the Dyson then worked fine for months, so no probs.
But then 6 months later the hose (flexible) completely broke away from the wand (hard plastic), i.e. the hose pulls out of the plastic yellow cuff (attachment) on the metal wand. Nothing seemed to be torn, it's just the flexible hose was completely separated from the wand. Again, we got the repair shop to mend it. I can't remember what exact work he said he did that 2nd time, but again it was working again.
But now it's happneend again. That is, whatever repair job the shop did to attach the two parts - at the 2nd mend job - has stopped working, & the hose & wand are again separated completely at the plastic yellow cuff.
We reattached it - firmly pressing the two parts of the wand/hose together, via/inside the cuff - but it has only lasted a few weeks. Obviously it needs more attention! ,-)

So now, in these £-stress times we want to try & mend it ourselves. Especially as no doubt the vacuum cleaner is due for the bin pretty soon, as at the rate of recent repairs it's not worth spending that much money on! The Dyson is, after all, approx. 25 years old! It's a DC-01, one of the original model designs. It has been looked after carefully so has lasted the years. But I admit we do now use the hose part more than the main 'floor' part of the vacuum. ANd thus we do put a bit too much tension on the wand part, as it is the most flexible part of the hoover so is the favoured part to use in small spaces. No doubt over-stretching the hose is why it keeps breaking. :-(
So are wondering if we could self-mend it. Any ideas?
Would a glue do? And if so, which would be the best type of glue to use?
All help would be appreciated! (Being a DIY newbie!)

P.S. In case this helps: I have found a diagram from the manual that was supplied with the Dyson (when it was first purchased), that explains how the 2 parts (wand & hose) had to be assembled i.e. linked via the plastic yellow cuff :

All help would be appreciated! (Being a DIY newbie!)I had a DC01 and loved it, but it dind't last anywhere near as long as yours!Realistically I think you may need to buy a replacement hose. IIRC the "cuff" acts as a seal around the metal extension pipe, so any repair will need to strike a balance between being strong enough and air tight, whilst not preventing the extension pipe extending. There are some suppiers selling DC01 hoses for about £10 - which doesn't seem too bad compared to what a repair-shop might charge to fix it.Alternatively it might be worth putting a request on a site like Freecycle in case anyone has a DC01 in their attic or garage and would be willing to give it (or just the hose) to you for nothing. I kept mine for a while after it died as I thought it might go up in value as a design 'classic'... I'd guess there were quite a few other people who did the same and may still have theirs (or bits of it).3 -
Pretty sure I bought an after-market (IE non-Dyson) hose for my ex-01 too, and I recall it 'felt' a little different in use, but absolutely worked as it should for a long while until the motor conked out and I chucked it. So that sounds the best bet.
Any adhesive would be a compromise and a chore and might be short term and would probably cost at least half of that.3 -

Still have a DC01 we use for the car. Taken the drive band off so it doesn't spin the brush. We had to replace the hose on our DC15 and the copy part seemed better quality than the original.2
