My wife received the below text message on her mobile phone this morning.

Googling strongly suggests that it is a scam.

She is not registered with any test and trace and the only people she has had contact with recently are friends who would have almost certainly phoned her if they had Covid.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Yes it is a scam - even if she had the app - Test and Trace contact tracing ceased on 24th Feb .

I suggest  that you report the scam to your provider :
    • reduce the amount of scam texts you receive
    • make yourself a harder target for scammers
    • protect others from cyber crime online

It's definitely a scam. The link asks for personal details to 'confirm your identity', then bank details for a very reasonably priced test ! 🔈🔈🔈🔔🔔🔔

    Thanks both.

We were fairly certain that it is a scam so we didn't do anything with it.

Another point to remember is that hardly anyone was actually told that they definitely  had Omicron. We could only suspect it from the symptoms even in the peak testing period.

Yes I agree, a scam. My phone automatically detects this kind of message and alerts me. I never click on links in texts anyway. I'd delete it rather than leave it and also the phone should have the capacity to block any other such messages. Which I'd do.
