Virgin Media Canclellation

We are cancelling our Virgin Media Broadband and Phone contract as the price is going up from £23.50 to £54.25 at the end of the introductory period. The introductory period is scheduled to end on 18/05/2022 however we have received a bill dated 9/5/2022 for the new price of £54.25.
The Direct Debit is 26/5/2022. 
If we cancel the direct debit on the 20/5/2022 are we likely to be charged £54.25 and will cancelling the direct debit affect my credit score?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Please do not cancel your debit.

What's probably happened here is you pay for Virgin in advance, you always have done.  So your bill for the 9th will cover up to (most likely) June 8th.  If your service will end on the 18 then you will get a pro-rata payment afterwards and if its not active on the 26th your payment will not go out, and if it does it falls into the kitty for refund.

This is assuming of course your service does end on the 18th.  You have requested this?  It will not cancel on its own.  Plus you need I believe 30 days notice at least.  So if you haven't given any notice you're sort of committed now.

Re billing, let's put it in simple numbers with this (fictional) example:

You pay £30 on the 1st.

Your service will end on the 15th for <reason is immaterial for this example>.

Your service ends on the 15th.

You are owed £15.
