Car insurance falling short of loss

You could try contacting some dealers with your budget and asking if they can meet your requirements. If not try to get a written price for a suitable car and go back to the insurance company with it.0 -
Just scour the internet/auto trader etc for another VW UP with same milage service history etc and gather evidence.....don't be in a hurry to agree a price I once waited/haggled 6 weeks and got more than the low mileage replacement cost me1

Problem with waiting is that you don't have a car while your are arguing with them.0

Thanks everybody.
I have done that, created a dossier with examples of similar cars.
Unfortunately our insurance (LV) are dragging their feet. We have to keep chasing them, waiting long time on the phone every time and only today (two days later) the field engineer received our mail (I had to send it again, directly to him, but we did not know that).
I sent links and screenshots but he cannot open the links.
He claims only one car is ¨like for like¨. That car is valued at 11,500 and he is offering us 10,000, so I said no.
In the meantime we are losing money by the day since we need to travel to help our daughter who as I stated before is bed ridden due to an accident (a van knocked her over when she was cycling back from work).
We would have been there by now and will have to sort something out one way or another because after Friday the person helping her now won't be there any more.0 -
For a 2018 VW UP, £10k is a very reasonable offer. What is this one like for like car and where is it for sale?
Which model of the UP did you have?0 -
An example of a 2018 VW Up with under 10k miles at a VW main dealer for £9,950

A higher in the range model, again from a VW main dealer for £10.499

Both of these have a warranty with them which unless you extended your will not have so that is potentially a betterment compared to where you were.
There are examples out there in the range of what they are offering (if you look at ones between 20k and 30k then there are dozens).
What is the criteria you are using as comparable?0 -
Well the first one is in Nottingham. I have noticed prices are better far from London but that is not an option.
The second one is 10,500, as you said.
Considering we are obliged to buy a car not by choice, we are prepared to put some money ourselves and get a slightly newer one, but at least would like a fair price for ours, which was immaculate as I said.

They can justify it because the national average for a car at a retail outlet is what they are offering. They use services like Glasses guide to get their valuations.
The OP is expecting them to pay above market value based on main dealer sticker prices using just the most expensive as examples, within a very short distance. We would all like this kind of payout, but rarely happens.
