Chase card Costco

Can you use Chase debit card at Costco?
Mine was not accepted today on card type, not declined.
Fuel and in Warehouse.

Not sure this is really a Motoring question, though you did buy fuel so maybe.

The best people to answer the question would be Costco.  Did you enquire at the customer service desk on your way out after the card being declined in the Warehouse?

I assume you had an alternative card that you used to make payment and, therefore, based on your experience the Chase card is not accepted.  However, the website states "Costco.co.uk accepts the following credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, and the Maestro card."  Could it be that the decline was from the Chase Card rather than Costco?

My Chase card is a mastercard debit, I assume all Chase cards are. So Costco would accept the card, or do they not accept numberless cards? But for chip and pin or contactless I can't see it making a difference. Was there some other problem perhaps? Chase do not allow overdrafts for example so if you had insufficient funds in the account the transactions may have been refused? Also to rule out the obvious is your Chase card working elsewhere?

I got the impression from a quick look at Chase is that the card does have a number, it's just not printed on the front.

Correct, the number can be found through the app but is not printed on the card anywhere (most of my newer cards have the details printed on the back).

I know for fuel you need to have at least £99 available in your bank to use a debit card, if you don't then your card will be refused.

My card never got as far as being authorised, pump just said card type not accepted.
If you look on Costco it says most Credit Cards, however Mastercard Debit card does not seem to be on list.

I got exactly the same message when my card was refused and it was because of the funds available in my bank at the time. Had I transferred money from my other account before hand this wouldn’t have happened.

I had a transaction declined the other day, it immediately showed in the App - Transactions - Showed as “There wasn’t enough money in Arch’s account”.

Got to bottom of it, my fault must of missed rotation of card when first tried.
Works OK, just make sure you get chip right way around.
Also make sure you have minimum £99 and it does update to fuel taken immediately. This applies to other cards as well, Costco attendant was busy telling people who tried.
