What and when is the last not estimated reading for her account, and what are the readings today?
That will give you already an idea what she is really using and how expensive it will be.0 -
Pochase: The latest statement is yesterday 11th May This shows:
She is not on the cheapest tariff - yet no-one mentioned that to me from Eon.
Her elec charges from 11th Feb 22 (estimated) to 11th May 22 (meter reading taken with photo evidence) are £185.97 - so 3 months worth. So £100 less than she's being changed for one month from June!

Estimated is not great, but at least that means they have now billed her up to the real usage, and no huge bill is coming up for unbilled energy used.Hoopie said:Pochase: The latest statement is yesterday 11th May This shows:

You did not mention if she is in debt or credit? That should show on the invoice. If she has to pay off a debt that would explain a high debit order.
What do you mean she is not on the cheapest tariff? Is she on the SVT or did she go onto a expensive fixed rate in the last months? If she is on the SVT there will be no cheaper tariffs available.0 -
What was the exact message on her bill about not being on the cheapest tariff? It should have included the name of the tariff and the amount of potential savings.0

On the front page of the on line account it will show the current account balance, what is that ?Below that will be the tariff name and unit rates, what does that show ?The "cheapest tariff" in energy supplier language is not always the actual cheapest so beware. What have you signed her up to ?Have you confirmed the day and night readings are being reported the correct way round ?1

In addition to the above, you can also adjust the direct debit amount online, although you can't reduce it by more than 10%.Also, be aware that payments don't always show in time for statements, so you could, for example, receive a statement showing a debit balance, but have a direct debit about to go into the account which will clear it. They do show any "pending" payments that have been received but not yet applied on the account summary page though.

The thing that leaps out at me here is her not being on the cheapest tariff - if she was previously on a fox, and that expired, it should have automatically rolls to the SVR, which, right now, probably will be the cheapest option for her. have the energy company by any chance somehow auto-switched her to a new fix? Or could she have been duped to sign up to one of the services that switches people?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

This is what it says on the current bill dated yesterday:
Could you pay less? Remember - it might be worth thinking about switching your tariff or supplier. For your electricity (on meter point 1.........) You could save £104.41 a year by switching to Next Flex (FLEXDIRECTDEBIT-21-07-20), our cheapest variable tariff for your electricity usage

The debit is currently £188. I wondered about her paying this off in one go and starting from scratch?0

Looking back through the bills, do any of them have actual usage on them at all? If so, the actual reading closest to a year ago and a meter reading today is what we would need to work out the annual consumption. Even as long two years ago might be good enough, but not ideal.
