The fact that you don't have to live with someone else's decorating taste until you can get it changed.

Bought one of the show homes so professionally decorated/styled....everything included in the sale so saved a fortune on furniture beds/etc which helped as a first time buyer with no furniture. All I had to buy when I first moved in was a microwave and vacuum cleaner!
Being a show home it's at the front of the development so doesn't feel like you're in an estate
Warm all the time so hardly have the heating on
Had a really great aftercare experience from the developer when a couple of minor issues popped up....plus they're still mowing my front garden while the sales office is still open 😀1 -
I lived in a new build for 14 Years ( now sold) as a single person, I didn't spend to much money to maintain it. Builders use cheap paint for the outside woodwork so I repainted it myself, no problem, and I only had the boiler fixed once. Sold at a 47% profit. I will buy another new build in 2023. I don't want to talk up new builds to much because I will be competing against others buyers who have been brainwashed to believe new builds are rubbish.0

I loved that it was a blank canvas without any wood chip wallpaper! Also that the edges/corners were more defined than in older houses, and there wasn't a million layers of gloss on the doors/frames!Life gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017Sealed pot 2025 £6573 | EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3364/£6000 | Travel savings £1508 | Sinking pots £25710

I think i really like the newness and untaintedness of a new build however its the lack of outside space and being overlooked by many houses that put me off.
Sometimes i think its down to the type of developer, i have two sets of friends who bought newbuilds in the same development site that is being built by two different developers. The larger house being built by a known developer doesn't have the quality feel, outside space and homeliness as the smaller independent developer.
Knowing you wont find someone else's DIY nightmares is a plus although seeing some of the finish on certain newbuilds is even more of a nightmare.0 -
Under paw heating! I love not having radiators dictating where furniture goes, warm feet and a very happy cat!

I love my new build. We did have a few issues and spent a bomb getting our garden up to where we wanted it. I do dislike being overlooked.
But I love the new feel, the layout and the snags fixed. Buying 2nd hand if you haven't had honest sellers you'll be left with a lot of work and cost.
I am curious though, who did people choose to buy their new build from? Which developer? Some have horror stories but curious as to the rave reviews for some.
Please let me know 🙏0 -
