I have just read your thread it was fantastic I hope my creditors are as forgiving, my problem is when my ptsd is bad and I'm scared to sleep I shop to stop my mind playing like a film, I know when my MH is bad bad as parcels arrive theat I don't open.
Ìhave contacted Advice Ni who are Citizens Advice here and they have taken over contact of my creditors but letters and phone all affect me badly.
I hadn't even thought of write off I just wanted a payment plan to take pressure off but my psychiatrists letters with diagnosis medication and trauma the debt is causing have been sent today so now my anxiety is horrendous waiting for replies.0 -
Replies are going to take a while! So try to relax. The ball is in motion now and you have made the effort to find help. Creditors understand that and they take it into account. The worst that a person with debts can do is not do anything. Now that the advisors are talking to them and you have help you need to be aware that this is a long process. I also shop when I am stressed. Try to find an alternative. Good luck and have patience now!TOTAL DEBT JUNE 2019: £38,233.87 Aiming debt free mid 2023. You will be ok. I know that debt and money problems can feel like the end of the world but trust me they are not. No one goes to jail in the U.K. for consumer debt. It’s how they have raised us to make us feel horrible when we have debts. Things happen people get ill, money should not be your priority now. You are taking care of it, now relax until you get the answers, listen to your advisors and come back to this forum anytime you need help or company. This is an amazing resource filled with people who understand and don’t judge. At the end of the day we only have one life. Concentrate on getting better with your health. Creditors won’t become poor cos you can’t pay. You are a number in their system. I assure you they don’t wake up thinking “this person hasn’t paid me yet”. Do not loose sleep over this
and update us when you start getting answers. We can help with the follow ups etc

You say you don`t work, I`m assuming you don`t have much in the way of assets such as a house, or a dozen old masters paintings hanging on your wall either ?
So although non payment may induce all kinds of letters threatening this, that and the other, in reality, there is very little a creditor can do to force you to pay, if you simply don`t have the money.
Hopefully, based on your medical evidence, they will all be sympathetic towards you, but just to try and ease your mind somewhat, if that were not to be the case, they can`t take what you don`t have, so you can dismiss each and every level of enforcement action as it would be futile, non of that will happen, so if its that that is bothering you, please stop thinking about it, as it just won`t happen.
