British Gas Fixed

I pay by variable dd at the moment as I am on the Welcome tariff. If I change to a fix one the terms and conditions say you have to pay by dd. However does anyone know can I still pay by variable dd or does it have to be a fixed amount per month. Many thanks

A DD of either flavour will qualify.1

I doubt it's a good idea to go on a fix at the moment.

This fix is 25% more than the current price, whilst the BoE is now forecasting a rise of 40% in October, which does make it look like an increasingly good idea.1

Cornwall Insight are predicting 32% rise, but no-one knows what will happen.I fixed in March, at 3% more than the cap turned out to be, I think I've got it right.....I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I have worked out the figures and the increase for the 12 months fix would be about £180. This is about 15 percent more than I am paying at the moment. Also the Welcome tariff finishes in July 2022.0

If you are a very low energy user you may be right but if not I think your figures are off if the fix is 25% higher than the price cap?
If you let us know your kWh energy use for the year and the rates being offered this can be sanity checked👍1 -

If I stay on the Welcome package it would be 28.408p per kw and 51.626 standing charge.
Thanks for your help.
