I pay by variable dd at the moment as I am on the Welcome tariff. If I change to a fix one the terms and conditions say you have to pay by dd. However does anyone know can I still pay by variable dd or does it have to be a fixed amount per month. Many thanks

A DD of either flavour will qualify.

I doubt it's a good idea to go on a fix at the moment.

This fix is 25% more than the current price, whilst the BoE is now forecasting a rise of 40% in October, which does make it look like an increasingly good idea.

I hope BoE's monetary forecasts are better than their energy ones, since (barring general war in Europe or the Yellowstone supervolcano erupting) there's pretty much no chance of the October increase being 40%.

Remember to factor in that you will pay 25% more for the energy you use between now and October if you go for the fix. Cornwall Insight are predicting 32% rise, but no-one knows what will happen.

I fixed in March, at 3% more than the cap turned out to be, I think I've got it right.....

I have worked out the figures and the increase for the 12 months fix would be about £180. This is about 15 percent more than I am paying at the moment. Also the  Welcome tariff finishes in July 2022.

If you are a very low energy user you may be right but if not I think your figures are off if the fix is 25% higher than the price cap?

If you let us know your kWh energy use for the year and the rates being offered this can be sanity checked👍

I think you'll find the Welcome tariff will be replaced by the SVT at exactly the same rates, so it'll be a change of name only.  There has been a lot of discussion about this because BG originally promised a Price Guaranteed date of June/July 22 but then quietly changed it.

Estimated annual usage: 3316.00 kWh. 12 months fix 33.326 per kWh and 58.475 per day standing charge.

If I stay on the Welcome package it would be 28.408p per kw and 51.626 standing charge.

    Thanks for your help.
