Cat6 won't help you if you're moving the hub away from where its currently connected to the phone line.
    You need an RJ10 cable.

I have an 8m run of decent cat 6 cable terminated with RJ45 on one side which plugs in to an NTE5C Mk4 VDSL faceplate and RJ11 in the other for the router and if anything the speed has improved and is more stable than using the standard, cheap, ADSL cable.

To be fair the OP hasn't stated what he's terminating the cat6 cable. Cat5e/cat6 is the prefect cable for extending runs to the master socket, and as mentioned if you're not going to the trouble of installing wallplates at either end then a cable with a RJ11 on one end for the router and an RJ45 for the master socket if you have a faceplate (RJ11 if not). I certainly would advise against using long runs of cheap telephone/ADSL cable, which I'm assuming what you mean by "RJ10 cable".

I am using a very cheap 15m RJ11 ADSL extension cable from the master socket to the router.

Absolutely no loss of speed either on my previous ADSL (3.3 Mbps) connection or my current FTTC (34 Mbps) service as compared to a very short cable at the master socket.

    This is the cable I'm currently using - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252087318953 , it's actually the 7m RJ11 to RJ45 cable.
