Caravan purchase consumer rights

Hello, i bought a caravan on finance 8 months ago. Since handover we have had a faulty shower tray. It has been reported to haven and has been acknowledged as having a manufacturers fault. It’s been backwards and forwards to haven and manufacturer but it’s still not been fixed. I’ve read the service charter and it states that manufacturer faults will be dealt with within 8 weeks. Can I pursue compensation ? And how best to do this ? With Haven who we bought from , or the caravan manufacturer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated .

What sort of finance do you have for the caravan, loan, HP, PCP etc?

Your legal rights are with the retailer, in this case Haven but you may also be able to pursue the finance provider for a resolution, depending on how it's financed.

Was it a brand new caravan, or used?  If used, how old?

In theory, if they can't fix the issue then you do have the right to reject the caravan, potentially for a full refund, depending on when the fault was first reported and also whether caravans are classed as vehicles or not. You could also push for a replacement. Either way you need to do this in conjunction with the finance provider because at the end of the day they are the ones that own the caravan.

They have acknowledged that there is an issue but we are still chasing a date for the work to be done. We got the caravan in August last year and the fault was reported during our first week. Since then it’s been constant chasing. Haven just say they are waiting in a date from the manufacturer. Their service charter says 8 weeks for manufacturer faults to be rectified so I am keen to pursue some form of compensation .

The OP mentioned "Haven" so I assume this is a static caravan.

Yes it’s a static on a haven caravan park. So I am subject to ground rent charges etc.  Sorry I should have given all this info at the start . I bought through Haven . The caravan was manufactured by Willerby

Compensation is for actual losses, not to be confused with goodwill compensation.

Do you have any actual losses, like having to pay to shower until the problem is resolved?

You can give them a "Time is of the Essence" letter giving them a reasonable time 3 or 4 weeks, to fix the problem or you will get it done and give them the bill. Shich can be sued for if necessery.
