I visited the MSE site prior to a trip to France to seek advice on insurance to see how I could best be covered for Covid and in general.
Leisure Guard Direct were one of the top recommended insurers on here so I went ahead paid for their cover with winter sports cover included
My wife broke her wrist in 2 places and had to have treatment out there.

We put in a claim with every possible bit of information about 5 weeks ago yet have had nothing back. No communication at all.
Having looked into the company that seems to be using Reactive Claims, they have appalling ratings and sounds like many don’t receive money at all.
I’m very disappointed that MSE would recommend such a poor company and I’m now looking for advice on the steps we can take to get our money back.

Sadly MSE recommendations are based solely on price and what the contract covers. There is no reliable information available about service quality. Personally I try to look at review sites to see how insurers handle claims, but this is not systematic and the very worst insurers use the law of libel to suppress bad reviews.
I suggest you use your insurer's complaints process and if necessary take it to the Ombudsman service. And of course leave reviews wherever possible.
