Yep start the day nearly a whole pound down.

    £332 a year.

When you look at it like that for dual fuel customers it really is heat or eat come winter.
The 91p is for both fuels.

Even £332/yr is still less than the cost of providing a supply of gas and electricity to your home.
Ofgem's cap model has "network costs" at £390 per consumer per year (£371+VAT).

Yes and what the "reasonably well off" people don't realise is that is not affordable for a lot of people. Regardless of the many reasons for it being that high. For them it is heat or eat. They don't have much more than a quid maybe a couple of quid a day on top of that standing charge if they are lucky.

We have a unique view into the issues we rent a number of properties to people on Universal credit or housing benefit. Since the April price cap two of the properties have given notice to move back in with mum and dad due to the cost of living. We expect further issues down the line especially with an increase in October expected.

Not if SC per year is worked out like this for direct debit customers - I note O/P is on Smart Prepayment, however £371 + VAT Network Costs appear to have been taken from breakdown of £1971 direct debit energy cap figure
    .

    Gas 7.37p  x 12000 kWh =  £884.40

    E     28.34p x 2900 kWh    = £821.86  ( £878.54 if based on 3100 kWh

    =  £1706.26  or £1762.94 if based on 3100kWh

    Cap £1971 - £1706.26 = £264.74 SC

    or £1971- £1762.94 = £208.06 SC

    kWh rates taken from https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/what-is-the-energy-price-cap/

     "per consumer per year"
£371 + VAT Network Costs appears to be based on Ofgem averages for so called typical home

I'm not at all sure what you're trying to demonstrate; £264 and £208 are still both less than the £390 in network costs per account that Ofgem use in the cap?

I fail to see where + VAT comes from
VAT is literally there as a line item in your screenshot.

"VAT is literally there as a line item in your screenshot". - Yes I edited before your post reply

What I have tried to demonstrate should be apparent you have told O//P who started thread titled "Standing Charges" that £332 SC he/her pays is less than the cost of providing a supply of gas and electricity to his/her home citing  "network costs" at £390 per consumer per year

Screenshot of breakdown of Cap shows
network costs as a component of total energy capped figure average across all regions for so called typical average house and is covered by combination of 12000 kWh Gas and either 2900 kWh or 3100 kWh Electricity depending on which figure was used + Standing Charge

    I'll delete my VAT comment.

Yes, we seem to agree on that. The Ofgem cap calculation contains £390 per account for network costs, which is less than the OP's total standing charges.
Screenshot of breakdown of Cap shows network costs as a component of total energy capped figure average across all regions for so called typical average house and is covered by combination of 12000 kWh Gas and either 2900 kWh or 3100 kWh Electricity depending on which figure was used + Standing Charge
So we agree that the standing charge doesn't cover network costs for DD, prepay or cash/cheque customers. Great. I'll move on to other topics.

Standing Charge is not intended to fully cover all network costs, network costs are covered by combination of SC and kWh used and is not £390 per account, £390 is an average figure.
    .
As I said in my last post

"Screenshot of breakdown of Cap shows network costs as a component of total energy capped figure average across all regions for so called typical average house and is covered by combination of 12000 kWh Gas and either 2900 kWh or 3100 kWh Electricity depending on which figure was used + Standing Charge"
