Thought google used to allow a motorway name and junction number. I remember doing that years ago although maybe
it was Nokia's OVI maps which was really good?

Maybe it was open street map?  The lying GPS as I called it.. Take the 2nd exit A30 where the A30 was clearly the 3rd exit,
2nd exit was not just a driveway to track it was a proper road.

Easiest way is to specify the start & end points of your intended route to be somewhere near enough to the motorway, then drag the start and / or end to the junction you require. Google Maps quickly recalculates the route data  based on the new start & end.

I find easiest way is to click on Directions arrow; click on Choose Starting point, click on map, then click on Choose Destination and click on map. That way you can click right on the intersection or anywhere else you want without needing a name.
  • Workaround solution to finding a junction by number on Google Maps, if you don't know where it is:

Visit the Roads Org UK website* and find the Motorways page

There is a schematic for each motorway showing every junction and it's connections.
Click on any junction and you will find a link to both Google Maps below the displayed map of the junction.

Finally, Right click > Directions from here as others have suggested
