BT speed reduction

Options
I recently had to contact BT as my connection kept dropping.  After a false start , the initial report was that my phone had a problem which it didn't,  I again contacted them and this time got the report correct.  After checking, there was found to be an external fault, and OR came out and supposedly rectified it.
However, although he went on about a guaranteed 49mb, and I was only getting about 40 with the fault, resulting in the visit by OR, I am now getting only around 50, the best has been 52.  Before the fault, I was getting the high 60s, I once saw 70,  so am I right in complaining again?  Why does he say about a guaranteed 49, when I was getting the high 60s?

TIA.
David.

If the guarantee is 49Mb, then that's what you are paying for and if you were getting more before, then you were lucky at the time.
It's possible that the "fix" was to swap you to another port in the cabinet which has more people on it.

Qn: Did the OR engineer reset the DLM? If the DLM wasn’t reset, it can take weeks for the system to increase your speeds.

FWiW, when I had a FTTC connection which was 0.2Mbps above the fault/handback threshold, OR wasn’t interested. Fortunately, I am now on FTTP which doesn’t have DLM.

There is some info needed before anyone could reasonably be offer an opinion, post the return from this wholesale checker using your phone number ( this will show the predicted speed for your location ) and post your router statistics, this will show your max attainable speed and your current sync speed, this will allow us to see what your line is doing and what it could do

You may  have to look up how to get to your router stat pages
