Still waiting for a final bill from zog - they owe me money as I was in credit with them and between zog and edf I have paid for the same gas twice - any help as to who to contact would be gratefully received.  At the moment without a final bill I don't think I can get anywhere - how long should it really take to send a final bill??????

Most of us got our final Zog bills in early January.
Did you not receive an email "Your Zog Energy Statement" from them with it attached?

Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I did receive a statement, but edf won't accept this as proof that the meter readings overlap - they have said I have to go to the zog administrators to get my credit back - I thought we were supposed to be covered!!  I did put an email in over a month ago to the (one) person at the administrators who seems to be given the task of sorting it out - poor bloke I bet he ends up going off sick with stress before the whole sorry Zog mess is sorted.  I have had a small credit back, but it doesn't cover the grossly over estimated bill zog finished up with.

To give you an idea of the difference it's around 3.5 months worth of gas!  Just before Zog went bust I realised I was so much in credit so asked for a refund, but they came up with some excuse that I couldn't!!!!  EDF despite being given the correct reading on the day of the switch have taken the overestimated reading to work out my refund.....  someone needs to give me back the double paid gas.

Does your last statement from Zog show an overestimated meter reading or a correct reading?

Have EDF used the same meter reading to start your account as Zog used as the last reading?

You are much better off having paid Zog for the gas, at Zog's rates, than EDF at theirs.
It's the receiving supplier's job to resolve any problems withn handover meter readings.
Rather than asking Zog for credit, can you tell EDF that they should open your account on the same reading that Zog closed on? After all it's EDF who have settled Zog's account.
If EDF claim they can't, open a complaint then (if not resolved in 8 weeks) take them to the Ombudsman.

Thank you QrizB - I will try it this way - I thought I was doing the 'right thing' by giving a meter reading (to both companies) when the changeover date happened.  What I wasn't banking on, was Zog giving such a grossly over estimated bill as a final bill/not a bill, called a statement!!!  It's such a shame as Zog was a lovely company to deal with (except for their last month or so) - I'd been with them for several years, which is almost unheard of these days.  EDF however are pants!   I feel though that I have to stay with them until this is resolved otherwise it will get even more complicated.   Oh to be 'off grid'.....
I did suggest changing the 'start' meter reading resolution to EDF a while back (I may have been ranting by this point with them as the young lady I was speaking with, didn't get it) but they wouldn't have a bar - I will try again tomorrow, and calmly say if they don't accept and resolve within 8 weeks I will raise with the Ombudsman - or find out how to get on the twitter thingy.....

The simple answer is no!    I provided a reading to both companies on the actual day of the changeover, EDF accepted, but Zog 'estimated'    I've got to the point now that I don't care which company I've paid for the gas, but just want to pay once and not twice!!

Update - rang edf this morning explained I received a credit from zog with a final meter reading of xxxx, which doesn't tally with the opening read for them.  They are going to update my bill with the new readings, based on the closing read from zog and send me an amended bill - this should take around 6 - 8 weeks.  I've made a diary note to call them if I haven't heard anything.   Thank you so much for all your help
