BA - Compensation for taking an EARLIER flight?

Options
Hi,

Do I have any recourse with BA if I take an earlier flight due to a cancellation? My midday flight is cancelled and the options to get there the same day are 7am or 7pm. The 7pm flight will obviously mean I get there over 3hrs later so there is the compensation possibility but it means I lose a good chunk of the day.

If I got for the 7am flight, it means I get there 5hours early. Whilst that's not a delay, there is a whole load of additional costs and inconvenience getting to the airport and the fact that I have to factor in extra meals at the destination. Is that something I can claim for?

Also, I booked this via BA holidays so that included a hotel. Does that make anything different? eg. Can I fly the day before and have BA cover an extra night of accommodation as getting the early flight is difficult?

Thx in advance.

compensation is applicable if notified of the cancellation less than 14 days in advance.
As it is a package holiday you will find that the terms and conditions allow a change of 12 hours as 'insignificant'

As @Caz3121 says you are not entitled to compensation as you have been notified more than 14 days in advance -

You are entitled to re-routing - by offering you a flight on same day and same route BA have met their obligations.

  • But what about BA cancelling 6 days before and offering a late night flight  36 hours later so we had to use a flight  26 hours earlier, there were four flights a day but by the time they cancelled the other flights were full.
