It's worth a try, at the very least if it doesn't work I'll have something simmering away for future switching offers

Have you got any sort of adblocker or cookie blocker in your web-browser? For some reason privacy badger blocks me from being able to make faster payments from metro bank so it could possibly be something like that. Either that or Halifax just don't really want your custom all that much.

Yes you can have different rewards on each account

I tried applying via the Halifax app, not via web browser. Maybe it's the app itself stopping any further accounts of the same type being opened? I'll try in a browser and if that fails then I'll open a boggo Halifax account and try upgrading it.

The other option could be Halifax getting stroppy because I set up a blatant switcheroo BoS account and binned it as soon as I got the card.

If you switched way recently, you may need to wait a month or two so they cool off. At one point, all three (Lloyds/Halifax/BoS) declined my applications for any additional current accounts, but the next month I was successful.
