Why not? It’s the only way they’re going to get their cut, since the full amount is made payable to Reclaim. 

It still wouldn’t surprise me if they’d made up the story about HMRC’s mistake though.

Either way there’s nothing the OP can do now except wait (& hopefully relax)

Because they’re getting paid regardless of whether it’s next week, next month or next year. Why would you lift a finger and bear extra costs when it’s not going to get you any more money?
