You haven't told us who sent that letter.

Please re-read the reply that @Coupon-mad made on your thread on 26 September 2022 at 10:57PM.

Please don't show us any more debt collectors letters - especially if you can't get them the right way up. ;)
Full guidance on how to deal with debt collectors letters can be read in the fourth post on the NEWBIES thread.

It is from i-debt collectors as written in the letter advising they are now proceeding to court. Giving me a final chance to pay at a lower amount.

i-Debt Collectors. Interesting company. Main owner/director lives in Portugal.

Working from home must be very nice watching all that cash pour in from a few letters to unsuspecting drivers.

Except it isn't going to court, it's all hot air and you know not to take the bait by responding, because you already read the 4th post if the NEWBIES thread and have heeded my reply to you in September.

However, there is one interesting thing about that letter.

The fact they are offering to settle at £94 at pre-action stage proves the fake added £70 'DRA admin fee' to be a lie!

£94 is even less than the £100 parking charge, and this shows that a less aggressive DRA can make arrangements with PPCs whereby the latter receive (say) £60 (the discounted PCN sum) and I expect the DRA banks £34.  Or a similar split.

This is in fact how proper debt collection in the real World works and is worth showing to the DLUHC as further evidence that the added £70 is appalling unjust enrichment by this industry only.

It boggles the mind what these fools come out with.  There was never a Parking Eye v Beavis case for the parking charge they claim, nor was their any ruling on the fake amount they claim.

The Supreme Court said simply that £85 was justified because it covered the cost of operating the scheme

This Sam bod should stop making himself look very silly and understand the facts

Play it again Sam but this time try to get it right ..... and, nobody should be talking to Sam .. let alone sending him money

  • Interesting what you learn from this forum. Normally I would just pay such things but someone had suggested to come on here before I did.

    Good!

I do find it VERY interesting that your debt collector offered to settle at £94 and I can tell you that the Government will be very interested in hearing about this model.

It is rarely seen in parking cases these days, and we need to stamp out the added abusive +£70 extortionate add-on that was probably on the previous demand.

So...read on!  We need you to be ready to take part to change the law, to stop this abuse.  There is one chance - very soon - in mere weeks/this spring, I reckon.

We sincerely hope that you are au fait with the need to respond to the final Government Public Consultation?

We all need to ram the nail in the coffin of the false £70 'DRA fee' add-on, that actually funds the court claim and toxic CCJ culture, as well as the DRA and roboclaim 'legals' gaslighting of people.

The Code also plans to cap most parking charges at £50.

All of this needs public support!

Please come back here when it opens, and you can make sure you don't miss the Consultation:

If you are not a regular reader, to be alerted you'll need to bookmark the thread by MSE_JC at the top of the forum and enable (on your profile) email alerts for bookmarked threads.

Please go read the end of that thread now.

Then join us when the Consultation opens.

But a model that has longevity if we win the bun fight over the clear abuse of the added £70.
