How do you prove you have travel insurance when it's part of a packaged bank a/c?

I've been advised by my travel company that I may be asked to produce evidence of travel insurance when abroad. But coop bank has only ever sent me a booklet for what's covered ie no policy number or letter confirming cover. When I asked them about this at the outset they said just explain it to the travel company but not so easy when it's in another country!

I've had to prove my travel insurance a couple of times and it's been a case of ringing the insurance company the bank use and they've been happy to send a covering letter with a schedule of insurance.

That's Nationwide and UK Insurance.

That's a load of nonsense from the bank.

We have this same Co-op Bank Reward current account with the packaged travel insurance - each year the bank mails us a letter to confirm that our cover is valid for another 12 month.

I had to insist on this via their customer service - they didn't offer

We take that on holiday along with the policy booklet.........plus a list of the emergency 'phone numbers for AXA. I can post them here if it would help.

You should also take your debit card(s) to confirm you are the holder of the account.

Yes please or pm me, when i asked coop about emergency number they just said use the generic 0344 249 9981 number in the booklet

Yes, that's the 'phone number - I used option 2, followed by option 2.

Can I suggest you give them (AXA) a call just to confirm that is still correct - they are very helpful in my experience.

The policy booklet is downloadable, 50 (ish) pages - do you need a link ?

I have a policy number - BANKxxxxxx (6 digits) - can't remember if that was allocated by the bank or AXA - again worth a call to clarify. I assume it's unique to the customer, rather than generic. ...... but you know what they say about assumptions.

I nearly forgot you should each have a personal medical reference number - that'll be from AXA methinks.

Ours start CPRACC, followed by 6 digits.

I wonder what is the benefit of having Coop Package Account and paying £15 a month just to get Travel Insurance. There are a lot of annual Multi Trip Travel insurance  available for les than £100.

If travel insurance is the only free addon then it's unlikely to be worthwhile. However most bank accounts of this type have a range of additional benefits.  My Lloyds bank account provides free base AA cover which alone is more than the monthly charges.

I couldn't get any annual worldwide multi trip policy for less than £180 with the same benefits for my age (73), with my preexisting conditions and with  no excess to pay - and can have it until I'm 80.

It's a great deal once you reach that older age bracket - also includes car breakdown assistance in the UK and mobile 'phone cover.

Are you not required to declare pre-existing conditions and be asked for an additional premium?
