  •  Took a gamble and fixed my energy with Octopus  at the end of June.
The One year fix was loyal octopus 12m
    Electric
    42.38p/kWh
    47.31p/day s/c
    Gas
    11.37/kWh
    27.22p/day s/c
    With no exit fees
Fingers crossed I made the right decision.

Currently I'm being offered the Octopus Loyalty 12m - prices all locked in for 12 months.

    Electricity:
    Daily Standing Charge  - 47.88p
                            Unit Rate -  67.49p/kWh
    Gas:
     Daily Standing Charge  - 27.22p
                             Unit Rate - 18.90/kWh

No exit fees on Electricity or Gas.

    I'm currently being charged:

    Electricity:
    Daily Standing Charge  - 47.88p
                            Unit Rate -  28.29p/kWh
    Gas:
     Daily Standing Charge  - 27.22p
                             Unit Rate -   7.43/kWh

No exit fees on Electricity or Gas.

So, that's a fair old increase!

Kelly62, you've got a better offer than me so fingers crossed for you.  Me? I shall have to simply wait and see.

Her rates were from June and she has already fixed when she got the offer.
  • Adding my own experience to this post -

I am with Outfox the Market and my "7 Heaven Fixed" tariff is ending on 20th August.

I pay £92.70 a month at the moment and am about £450 in credit, they have offered me one new tariff "Clean E Fix'd X29.0"
    which is £236.94 a month.

I realise my bill will go up a fair amount as I was only paying about 23p per kw and 22p daily standing charge, but this seems a lot.
I am trying to see the exact rates for this new tariff, but I cannot find them anywhere on the website.

Would anyone know the tariff's on this particular offer ?, and if I am better going to a different supplier (sorry if this has already been answered, but this post is 97 pages lol).

Also if I switched, what would happen to my credit, would I be reimbursed, or would it be transferred to the new company ?.
I am a bit concerned about the credit as I have tried getting it back in the past, and they only ever offer about 30% and say the rest is kept for future rises.

    Many Thanks

You will receive your money back from your old provider, only problem is you don't have many suppliers to move to.

Only Octopus and EDF might accept you if you call them, maybe repeatedly until you get lucky with an agent who lets you switch to them.

No idea how you can get the unit rates, they should be somewhere within the tariff information. Outfox will not let me get a quote, they are under Ofgem investigation and are not allowed to take on new customers.

But Outfox was famous for incredible high fixed tariffs a few months ago.

Reasonably painful, however taken the gamble of renewing with Sainsbury energy Smooth Renew v19, no exit fee and I was able to keep the existing contract terms to the termination date. Renewal email (with these offers, received today) indicated that the offer could be withdrawn at any time.

Looks like a decent deal given the latest predictions.

Boris said the energy companies should act in the national interest ..how will that work with the French owner EDF?

Exit charge is steep but being offered this on Scottish Power Flexi. Any good?
    16 Panel (250W JASolar) 4kWp, facing 170 degrees, 40 degree slope, Solis Inverter. Installed 29/9/2015 - £4700 (Norfolk Solar Together Scheme); 9.6kWh US2000C Pylontech batteries + Solis Inverter installed 12/4/2022 Year target (PVGIS-CMSAF) = 3880kWh - Installer estimate 3452 kWh:Average over 6 years = 4400 :j

Depends on what ofgem comes up with in a couple of weeks time. That offering is roughly 60% higher than standard variable. If the price cap is increased by any more than that then it's potentially better short term.
