Best idea is to wait until EDF make contactstuarta99 said:So what's everybody's thoughts for those of us that fixed, particularly the EDF one back in May.
From what I can see the fix is still slightly better for gas prices, but we are paying a couple of pence more per unit and about 6 pence more for the standing charge0 -
Will do, I see they do have a statement on their site saying they are investigating so curious to see what the options are likely to bebristolleedsfan said:

Indeed, there seem to be mixed messages about the status of fixed/capped/tracker tariffs.bristolleedsfan said:

we can do nothing but wait and see.1 -
Apologies if this has already been answered.I’m on a fix that’s due to end on 7th October. I fixed again with sainsburys smooth renew v20 at approx 4K per year to start on 7th. There are no exit fees so should I just ask to switch to their standard tariff on 7th instead?0

What were the rates for v20? If they were within 17p electric and 4.2p gas of the new cap, then v20 will be changed to the same price as the variable.debjay said:Apologies if this has already been answered.I’m on a fix that’s due to end on 7th October. So that would get discounted - down to 43.47p/kWh electric and 11.02p/kWh gas.debjay said:Deleted_User said:

It's then up to you if you want to keep the 'certainty' of those discounted rates or to move onto the SVT which would be initially cheaper. All depends how much you trust Liz when she said the SVT rates won't change for 24 months.1 -
Thanks for that. I’ve had a look at my account and before it was showing my estimated monthly cost to be £174 and now it says £306 with the unit price being much higher than it was. Why do you think that is?[Deleted User] said:

My take on this situation is that the £0.04 and £0.34 reductions in the unit costs would be applied to the originally proposed capped prices, approx £0.15 for gas and £0.51 for electric coming into effect from 1st Oct. Fixes set by the suppliers for usage after 1st Oct included the 80% cap and an additional sum to pre-empt future price increases, the proposed 52% in Jan23 and another 23% in April23.
My electric would cost about £0.66/kwh after 7th Oct when my fix ends and the V21 starts. I'm expecting to be paying the £0.34/kwh from 8th Oct until probably 30th Sept24. Likewise gas at £0.103/kwh.
If I'm going to be paying £0.49/kwh for electric, I'll cancel the V21 and go on the SVT.
We'll have to wait and see.1 -
Possibly scrap what my previous post said.
Just logged into my Sainsbury account and these are the prices they are now displaying. My tariff has changed from the V21 fix to the SVT automatically. Just wondering and hoping that the £0.04 and £0.17 per kwh reductions are still to be deducted.Electricity
Unit rate 50.0871p/kWh
Standing charge - 49.93065p/day
Gas
Unit rate
14.6265/kWh
Standing charge - 28.4844p/day
This is the amended SVT that has been introduced today at some point.
If the reductions are applied, the £0.103 gas and £0.34 electric /kwh rates for the SVT are achieved.
