Shawbrook bank

Was dissapointed to see the rates on martins savings page.
I was impressed with shawbrook and decided to open a savings bond 12 months.
The service is appalling.  6 days after i opened it with to be honest a sizeable chunk of money, they still had not transfered my funds.
If you call it just rings or you get  message saying were busy.
If you message you get no reply.
I have withdrawn my intension and am.seeking another co.
Martin may find rates but you dont get high street service or even same service as big well known banks.

  • Disappointing to hear your experience with Shawbrook , I opened 2 similar bonds and money in there within 12 hours , web site easy to get into and no issues at all .

They seem to be a victim of their own success at the moment.

I joined this bank about a week ago

ive had no issues at all and everything has ran very smoothly
     - so luckily I haven’t had to contact them for anything

and it’s only an easy access account

I have held an account with them for some years. Other than a couple of weeks around the end of this tax year I have experienced zero issues. That blip appears to have been the result of an advantageous ISA rate that put Shawbrook at the top of the interest tables. OH and I both hold accounts with max R85 holdings with Shawbrook without any qualms.

Yet another sorry tale that has further convinced me to avoid accounts that aren’t supported by direct Faster Payments.

I am also having problems with Shawbrook.  I applied to transfer-in a significant sum of money to their easy access cash ISA around 10th April.  I then received a message saying that they had commenced my transfer electronically and that I did not have to return any forms by post. ( I have had this identical ema-message daily for over a week.)  I am obviously prepared to wait the 15 working days (taking into account Easter) .

I realised I wasn't getting any emails from my current ISA provider (Charter Savings) to say that they have received my transfer out request.  So, I decided to call Charter and they confirmed that they have received no requests for any transfer whatsoever form Shawbrook.  I have tried ringing but I just can not get through (high volume of call, very busy, blah, blah).  I am now thinking of withdrawing my request and keeping it with Charter.  Good customer service is just as important as rates.

I have had a number of accounts over the years with Shawbrook, none at present, and never had a moments problem with them. I fear no matter how good and efficient a bank, or any other business, may be, some unlucky souls will always be on the wrong end of a foul up. All you can really do is studiously avoid those with the worst customer service records.

I think the issue is that the savings market has been in some turmoil. Interest rates have been going up generally; some smaller banks like Shawbrook are trying to get more cash in due to increased M&A activity in the sector ( Masthaven loan book for sale ) and Chase have thrown a spanner in the works  To cap it all it has been the end and start of the ISA seasons.

Result is an increased number of customers trying to transfer in and out .
