eBay return label states 0-2kg, item heavier

    I phoned eBay and was advised to phone Royal Mail to have the label changed to one that matches the weight of the item. Seems like bad advice as for one thing I'd be paying the cost myself. 
    As soolin has already said, you need to ring again.  Clearly you were misunderstood.

    Ring and explain you are the buyer and the seller has given you a returns label that will not cover postage.  Keep saying the same thing over and over until they understand.  If they don't understand, then put the phone down and call back until you get someone who does understand.
