Can we still get recovery certificates?

Hi guys, for three days in a row I have tested positive on lateral flaws and I am currently isolating at home.

I'm a bit perplexed as so how to 'report' this, if we can at all. All the language states that there is 'no requirement' to report a positive test, but are we still able to?

Before, as I understand it, we required a PCR positive test which would enable us to get the recovery certificate, which we could then use to get into Spain. Well, I never had it so didn't get one, so I'm wondering, has this been replaced by a similar procedure or have they completely done away with Covid recoveries certificates?

Spent a couple of hours tonight trying to find answers but I've got nowhere :/

In summary, I have covid, can I now get a recovery certificate and use this to enter Spain in this summer, or have they been done away with?

Sorry if this is clearly stated somewhere and I've missed it. Thanks!

In the devolved nations it may be easier. In England it’s trickier.

Three ways of getting a recovery certificate.

    1. the NHS way - obtain* an NHS PCR test, get a positive result. Wait 10+ days for a recovery certificate to appear automatically in your main NHS app.
    2. Private PCR test (approx £50+), private certificate of recovery (another £50+). You could do the private PCR test now and wait until you need a certificate of recovery.
    3. NHS LFT test, register positive test result. Use the email/ SMS from that for a private certificate of recovery (approx £50) note that the certificate may say that it is based on a LFT test which may not be acceptable for all countries.

    • how to obtain an NHS PCR. There are some out there, a sample of people were sent them alongside boxes of LFT as part of  a study on the accuracy of LFT vs. PCR results. So people may still have them. Also people have ordered them for home testing in the past and not used them. Ask around amongst friends/ families/ WhatsApp groups/ Facebook groups/ work etc. If you are lucky enough to get hold of one you need to register it. First stage asks for your 10 digit code, if you click that you don’t have your code it will allow you to register using your NHS login.

To add, reporting a positive LFT is unchanged ( https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result ) that will give you an email and SMS confirming a positive LFT. Used for point 3 above.

  • I have been trying to find out the same.  I rang the 119 Helpline yesterday and they said as my test was done on a LFT it cannot be used to obtian an overseas recovery passport.  It need to be a PCR test.  I wish I had known that at the time as I would of got a PCR test.

For future reference - where can you get a Private PCR test, how do you know if you are not be ripped off.

Define ‘ripped off’? If you go to a private provider you get a price but you can shop round if you wish to see if there is anyone cheaper.

Poor choice of words, I guess I mean 'scammed'.  How do you know who to use?  Is there a list of recommended private companies?

Isn't a covid recovery certificate just used if your vaccinations are not up to date, as having covid is basically the same as getting vaccinated against it ? So unless your not vaccinated or don't have your full vaccination required by the country you don't need a covid recovery certificate.

I.e Its not required just because you have had covid. Its only required if you haven't had a full course of vaccination.

Of course the OP doesn't state their vaccination status so may well be aware of this.

Being vaccinated gives far better protection so they aren't really the same.

But yes for travel purposes infection is treated as a short-term (six months) "vaccine" and is only relevant for those who have chosen not to get vaccinated.

If you register the test results like you used to then you can use the text or email from the nhs to get a private recovery cert which can be used for travel.
Spain are rumoured to be reviewing their entry policies at the end of the month so it might all change by then anyway.

Thanks, the issue I have is I do not know how to register the result.

Anyway, seems the Spanish website has now been updated and a negative test is accepted to enter Spain now for anyone 'unvaccinated', so no problems from now.
