Train to spain

We'd love to do a trip on the Eurostar and then hopefully a direct train to a warm coastal area in Spain.
Looking over the last few days, it's easy to get the Eurostar train at a decent price ie below 230 return but I can't really see anything to Spain like what we want and the TGV trains cost around 2/300 pounds one way. (even Portugal will do and we could do the last 10/15 miles via cab)
We want it to be an experience but not hand around for hours or pay the above prices.
initially we thought about a coach but reading the reviews it takes too long and the connections are a hit/miss thing.

Have a look at seat61.com, there are direct trains from Paris to Barcelona which take 6 hours but be warned, travelling long distances by train is much more expensive than flying2

I did thanks and very expensive, thanks.
What about a direct coach, can't see any. Are there any coaches from England/London/Kent Dover that go direct to the coast in Spain? Or a fully booked hol via coach cant find any.0 -
You could get the Megabus (now called Flixbus) from London to Barcelona for £47.98 one way per person....0

Spain has a vast coastline, where exactly do you want to travel to? The Costa Brava is likely to be the shortest/quickest and cheapest by Eurostar and then TGV.
The bus route is cheap, but it ain't cheerful...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

But looking for the train, relatively cheap but would consider coach for the experience and we've never done a coach hol before or a train one.0 -
Seat61, already recommended, has advice on routes and fares. It needn't be expensive if you book well in advance and preferably immediately after tickets are released for the route.Eurostar tickets start at £39 single ie £78 return but they and TGV fares operate like low cost airlines with fares rising if you book near to your date of travel.

Whoever said "getting there is half the fun" has never been on a long journey with Megabus.1 -
Ferry to Santander ? Amazing area to spend a holiday without the need to fly.
