No refund for an Operational Flight? (London to Belfast easyJet)

I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and have been given a doctors letter to cancel planned travel for the next 6 weeks due to a recent trip to A&E.

EasyJet have replied saying they agree I’m entitled to a refund in these circumstances but have suggested due to it being an Operational Flight, can only provide me with a letter allowing me to claim back £30 of government tax or have directed me to a link on how to change the flights!

Is this acceptable, clearly I don’t want to rebook in the event I’d have to cancel again and have questioned the respondent on why they can’t refund or offer a credit, as I don’t want to be pressured into rebooking until I get the all clear from my doctor / the hospital.

Claim on your travel insurance, this is what it's for

Easyjet and Ryanair tickets are generally sold on the basis that they are non-refundable and the fact that you are unable to travel due to health is not a ground to change those rules. Do you have travel insurance as with a doctor's letter you might be able to claim a refund, less an excess, from that? Otherwise, the usual rules will apply which are just a refund of UK tax

You bought a non-refundable flight as such its an issue for your insurance and not the airline.  Only if the flight is canceled does the airline become responsible for refunding the monies to you.
