I am getting a new phone soon and will need some USB C to USB A cables, I have been looking at the reviews for them on a site named after a large rain forest and most if not all have had a small amount of problems with overheating.

Has anybody got any recommendations for reliable calbes?

P.S. a bit of a rant, why do I have to buy a charger and it not be included in the rather high price of the phone (I know it's my choice to buy that particular phone but still!!!!).

Buy proper branded cables. I remember years ago Galaxy S2?  The manual stated that using cheaper cables and chargers could still run
the battery flat with the GPS/Navigation running.

Reducing e-waste - most people have USB power sources nowadays so there isn't much need for the charger.

To get the best performance, buy a USB C charger rather than charging from USB A which is now out dated and then you can use the supplied cable that comes with the phone:

You can get cheaper ones but I've had good experiences with all Anker products.

Thank you all for the replys, with regard to the e-waste arguement that is the reason for looking for C-A cables, I don't want to have to buy a new car charger when I still need an A charger for other devices, I have ordered a C mains charger for home use.

I don't for a minute think that e-waste is the reason Apple and Samsung have decided not to include chargers with thier phones.

You can get USB A to C adaptors. It just fits over the A end.  I've been using one for 2 years with my Samsung phone with no problems.

It is exactly the reason they have decided not to include them, same as moving to less plastics in the packaging etc. Pretty much all phone manufacturers are going this route as most people already have chargers so more are not needed.

Personally fully supportive of them not using more plastics than are needed.

I have gone for Samsung cables and a charger from Samsung direct, I got what was described as a genuine Samsung charger from that well known rain forest site (market place) and I'm not convinced it is the real thing so have returned it, I would have got them from Samsung in the first place but they were out of stock when I bought the phone.

I still think that a phone should come with a suitable charger and it is nothing to do with e-waste that they don't.

Agreed. I bought a genuine Samsung charger

Plug it in with the genuine Samsung cable

"your phone is charging slow" or whatever warning message it was. Marvellous

    Returned.
