    Can't help with the price but just wanted to say do be careful about the slope of the guttering.

    We used to live in a semi and the other side of the wall had their guttering replaced badly.  The down pipe at their corner of the house was attached to the guttering a bit too high and this was the only drain pip for the whole front of both our properties.  It wasn't an issue for a couple of years (& they had moved on by then) but then we had a tremendous storm and the volume of water pouring into the guttering bent it further down right at the joining wall.  Net result was that there was a lot of damp into the brickwork and eventually the new neighbours would get water draining into their front bedroom when it rained.  They blamed us of course (!!!?!!) and it caused a number of hostile confrontations.

    The whole issue would have been avoided if the original work on the guttering had been done with our knowledge as we would have had out bit of guttering replaced at the same time rather than it merely being rejoined to their new stuff.  so you might want to do work in conjunction with the neighbours or at least ensure they have their own drain pipes.

    Wow, we had a quote last year we haven't followed up on yet for a 4 bed house, replacement soffits, fascias and guttering, £8.5K+VAT!  Thought it seemed very expensive, the quotes on here seem to confirm that. Hopefully the builder doing other work for us now will be much cheaper.

    Seems odd because the quote came from the window company we used who were a fair bit cheaper than others. Maybe roofline products aren't really their area.

    I fear that builders are so busy as most of their cash in had helpers have returned home that they are charging what they like and there will always be some takers.

    8.5, incredible.

    I nearly fell off the sofa.
    These people have so much work that they are quoting triple prices and people do fall for it or desperate and have the money.

    I think they specialise in upvc windows and doors, and anything else is too much trouble to bother with. We had them quote for aluminium windows in our new extension and they apologised for not being able to come in with a competitive quote as their suppliers weren't budging on figures. They were 50% +VAT more expensive than 2 others who quoted, yet were best value for the upvc windows we installed.

    Thanks to everyone who posted their figures. Really useful as a guide. We have large 4 bed detached bungalow, so no scaffolding needed? but we have unusual rooflines, so won't be straightforward.

    @Slinky
    We had windows & doors replaced in garden room & new front door & porch, all done by a local company. We're happy with the work & price we paid. Asked them to quote for soffits fascia & guttering and they just don't want to do this sort of work now.

    As the owner is our next door neighbour, I haven't pushed him but if I did, I'm sure he'd come up with a similar figure.
