Attendance Allowance

Hi, my husband applied for Attendance Allowance in February, the form was filled in and sent back, it was received by DWP on 9th March. Yesterday while checking our online bank, a large sum of money had gone in, it was obviously from AA as it had those 2 letters after the payment description.
Does anyone know if this is a common thing? We just wondered how long until the letter arrives, as the payment was made on the 19th April. TIA.

It is common. The payment is authorised at the same time as the decision letter is issued and often arrives before the letter.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1

Thank you Calcotti, we've had a problem with the post just lately, some letters have gone to the next street.0

Any letters I get from DWP usually arrive a week after the date on the letter, and as the payment was only yesterday you probably don't need to worry about the letter having gone astray just yet.C.C.L. said:Thank you Calcotti, we've had a problem with the post just lately, some letters have gone to the next street.1 -
I had a similar experience. The money went into the bank and a few days later the 1st letter arrived followed by a 2nd letter in another couple of days.
The first letter was the award letter and the 2nd was an explanation of the back pay."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."

The payment was in the bank on 19th April, that's why I was worried the letter may have gone astray.Spoonie_Turtle said:

The main thing is that your application was successful!
I hope the letter arrives soon but at least you've been paid.

Oh that's more understandable, but I still wouldn't start worrying until the middle of next weekC.C.L. said:

(And congratulations, good news that it was awarded.)1 -
So was probably authorised around 15th April, it's less than 10 days since then and two normal working days were bank holidays so doesn't seem unusual to me.C.C.L. said:

Thanks for the lovely helpful replies everyone. I've got myself in a bit of a tizzy because it seems an awful lot of money. When do they consider the start date from? Is it from when you ring for the form or when the form is received?
No matter how we try to work it out it still seems too much. We've tried the low & high amounts. My husband is very ill, and I deal with most stuff now, anyway all will be clear when the letter actually arrives. Thanks again for your help.x0 -
From the date that you rang for the form.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.1
