Will I ever get to the end?!

Hi, thank you so much for your comment. I'm also on gamstop and although it has helped massively im still struggling as I use my partners accounts and also Facebook raffles, everywhere I look there is temptation. I really wish I had the willpower as I use to be so good with money. I'm at the end of the tether with it all, every night I go bed and say this is it tomorrow I will not do it but then tomorrow comes and the cycle starts again. I am in debt through getting money out to cover what I spend, I'm just scared that if I don't stop then ill never see the end to debt. Thank you for your experience, and well done to youWinterWarrior said:Hi rachy, good luck on your journey. I used to spend too much playing online. Like you, I never got into trouble with it, in fact I never took out debt for it, but I did spend too much of my disposable income. I also won a smallish jackpot that really set me on that path. I tried to stop, cut down, started again and finally registered with gamstop. I was convinced I could do it on my own, but I couldn’t without that complete block. I could spend an entire day spinning away and for a while was incredibly bored without it. I’m not proud, but I’m glad I recognised it before it became a problem I had to admit out loud! I really, really recommend a hard stop!I now have so much more spare money and you will have too. You’ll be in so much better a position to start your journey to being debt free once that devil is off your shoulder. I wish you so much luck 🌟

Can you ask your partner to change their passwords and close the accounts? I was lucky in that way as it was a secret obsession so I couldn’t possibly ask to use someone else’s account without embarrassing myself. I think that actually works in my favour as I wouldn’t want to admit it and that’s what ultimately made me pull myself together. Once all avenues are blocked then you don’t need willpower, you have no choice, but to ride it out.One thing I found was I would overspend in other areas to cover what I was spending online. E.g. I have no money left because I bought x, y and z. Once I didn’t need to do that, saving came a lot easier.
I know it’s hard, I really do, but blocking your access to everything is the easiest way to beat this. You are half way there. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien
