EDF say they can give me a breakdown of how I use energy - It's rubbish isn't it?
I had an email from EDF urging me to login to my account and look at my "personalised energy dashboard" . They have this (see below)
I don't believe that this data is true - I don't believe that they can tell what specific device is using electricity, and as we use the same gas boiler to heat the water and the radiators I don't believe they know how much gas is being used for each.
Am I right in thinking this is utter rubbish ? and if so shouldn't that be exposed and stopped ?

I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Yes rubbish - how can EDF possibly know if you are cooking or doing the washing ?
A bit of typical EDF - playing with the frills but not able to get the basics right.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2 -
They can make they pretty good guesses based on load, time, and pattern of use

They are guessing, mine is inaccurate compared to a breakdown of my actual usage.0

If you have a smart meter then they have the data electrons to send info to the dcc.1
-
However energy meters cannot tell what the usage is. Algorithms could pattern match to figure out some elements with a reasonable degree of accuracy, but the majority of the usage would be a total punt.gefnew said:If you have a smart meter then they have the data electrons to send info to the dcc.0 -
And that hub only works/can be set up if you are on a single rate tariff (at present) smart meter. If you are E7, tough at present, not that it looks like it'll be worth the bother anyway.gefnew said:0 -
EDF admit to obtaining (Table 2) and sharing (Table 3) private data from / with Onzo e.g. to monetise their smart meter customers...
