9 Day Old Leather Sofa Opinions Please

Hi,
We got 2 x 2 seater recliner leather sofas delivered 9 days ago. My husband and I sit on one together and the leather looks terrible already. Picture of wrinkly leather is the one we sit on and the other is one half of the one that’s used by the kids for comparison. They don’t sit there often.
For clarity, we’re both larger people but not massively so. Am I right in thinking they shouldn’t be this bad already? The ones they replaced weren’t even this bad and they were 10 years old.

For further info, the company are actually replacing both of them anyway because they arrived damaged in different ways but I’m reluctant to accept the replacements if they go like this again. Unless of course this is normal and I’m being picky.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you.

Doesn't look too bad to me. Is it real leather? How much were they and where were they from? It may be a case of price and expectations.
Why don't you swap usage for a while, to see if the other one goes the same way? If it doesn't, that surely confirms the "wrinkly" one has an inherent fault?1 -
Thank you. Yes, real leather. Not massively expensive but not the cheapest either. £1245 each from Furniture Village. It’s a bit of a minefield when choosing really. Our last ones were from Harveys and were great, but we wanted different colours hence the change.0

How did the sofa look when you saw the display model in store? That will have had far more use than your sofa had in 9 days.
Is it just me, or has the left-hand cushion got an extra seam?1 -

Is it just me, or has the left-hand cushion got an extra seam?I don’t know if it’s the head rest of the left one you’re referring to but that’s not an extra seam, it’s a sort of dent and was there when delivered. As the company said they would be replacing we didn’t think too much of it as it seems to be only that seat that’s affected by that particular issue. My mum and dad have got a similar sofa from a different company (ironically we we were going to get the exact same ones until we went to order after Christmas and the price had increased by £400 each sofa) and theirs is nowhere near as bad as this and they’ve had it for 2 years. Similar price point too. Not sure if that’s relevant or helpful.0 -
The prices of furniture have gone up by 20 - 30% over the past 2 years so £1200 no longer buys you the same level of quality. But given the appearance of those sofas I would be concerned. It's considered normal for cushions to lose up to 30% of their fullness in the first 6 months of ownership, but honestly I would be pretty upset if one of my customers had a sofa looking like this after just over a week! You mentioned you're both on the larger side, do you know what the manufacturer's weight limit is? Some high end manufacturers are now publishing a weight limit of 17st so I would expect the limit on these to be lower than that.If it's still within the first 30 days of ownership you may be able to exercise your 30 day right to reject.1

Thank you!
I couldn’t find the manufacturer’s weight limit, though did look on the website. I don’t know where else to look, but I could ask them.
It’s hard to tell re: the price because if we’d ordered the same ones as my parents before Christmas they’d have been exactly the same price. We put it off with it being a busy time and when we looked again on the 4th January, they’d gone up to £1600 each. I know a lot of these places are much of a muchness but as we’d not had issues with our last ones (from Harveys), we didn’t think it would be this bad. I actually slept on the Harveys’ ones for about a year too, (due to a medical condition) and they were still great. Hindsight eh?!

While your parents' sofas look the same are they by the same manufacturer?
A style can be the same but the components could be lesser or greater quality. Are your cushions filled with springs, solid foam or foam chips?
Buying at the same price as was paid 2 years ago is unlikely to get you the same quality.0 -
I have these exact sofas from Furniture Village, but a 2 seater and 3 seater recliner, and unfortunately they do wrinkle/crease very easily in no time at all. I sit on the 2 seater and I weigh 10 stone, and the seat where I sit side dips slightly and the leather is creased down the centre. We have had these just over 2 years now, but they don't look as bad as yours . My husband is just under 17 stone and sits on the.3seater, but his seat looks better than either of yours.
I have attached a couple of pictures of our 2 seater below which shows the crease running along the seat.
And 3 seater where husband sits.
I also found the sofas were rock hard to start with but have softened over time and are more comfortable now. Honestly I hated them at first but now have got used to them.
Hope this helps.1 -
