Shiply courier - contact details

Hello, I'm fairly new to eBay and have recently sold a large heavy item of furniture (a dresser/sideboard), which I advertised as collection in person only.
The buyer has already paid for it (before we actually exchanged any messages) and the money has already come through to my bank account.
However it now turns out the buyer is not collecting in person but is arranging collection via Shiply. For this they say they need my mobile number and email address so that I can be contacted by the courier.
What are the main risks here? It wasn't a huge amount of money (less than £50) but I am still a bit wary of giving someone my details who is then going to pass them on to a company.
Are there any steps I should take now to mitigate the risks?
I should add that the buyer has got 400+ feedback, all of them positive. So I might be worrying about nothing!
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Firstly to be clear, you have no obligation to accept a courier and it is a rather rude buyer if he didn’t check beforehand that you were OK with this.
If you do want to go ahead then I wouldn’t have issues supplying my phone number, but after making it clear to buyer that collection is on your terms , so they would have to arrange a short time frame and day for collection , none of this ‘sometime between 7am and 8pm’ nonsense. Also be clear to buyer, that you can’t wrap or assist in any way, and you will treat the courier exactly as you would if they were the buyer.
Also, and importantly if they paid via managed payments make sure courier has the scan you need to prove collection for eBay, or that buyer will supply it in number form before you allow the collection .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The first and only (so far) sale I made on ebay was for a desk. My buyer (I think was called Betty) and they used Shipley (or at least a contact they had through Shipley) for collection. I thought it was all rather dodgy, especially when there was no collection paperwork, and thought they were going to pull a fast one and reclaim the money via ebay. The communication from Shipley was poor and I just got a phone call about an hour before the driver turned up - he was surprised that I hadn't been contacted in advance. If this happens to you and you are not available then that's their/ the buyer's problem.
Everything turned out fine and I later saw the desk for sale on another web-site after it had been refurbished a bit. The only thing I would perhaps do in future is write out my own paperwork to act as a collection note (or get the number as described by soolin), put the collection vehicle details on it and get the driver to sign for collection. I did take a photo of the van that collected.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.1 -

Hi, I wouldn't have any objection to giving my mobile number and of course they need your address. They don't need another email address because they have your eBay one and they should use that, and so should you.
I would always continue to contact buyers (or sellers when that is the case) via my eBay email account. That's the only one you need and then, if anything DOES go wrong, you can then turn to eBay for help. If you don't do every single thing through eBay you cannot call on their 100% money back guarantee, even if it does seem a bit of a faff and even when buyers (or sellers) tell you it's okay to do so. It really isn't.
Just go via eBay, you cannot go wrong. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. The buyer would have been sent an email.by ebay with a unique collection number. Get that from them and enter it on ebay before allowing the courier to drive away with the item.0

By your own admission messages are usually exchanged between buyer and seller via ebay messaging, this is NOT by email - and I would never suggest that a buyer allows a third party like a Shipley courier to have full access to their ebay account in order to message. Therefore at some point the pick up, if Shipley wish to contact the seller (which they undoubtably will) will have to be done outside of ebay , however the QR code will protect the seller.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks very much for all your answers. I have written to the buyer saying saying some of the things suggested here - esp re the collection code - and now await his response.0
