Parking Ticket Cheque Cashed wanting more!!

Received a parking ticket in Glasgow in January. I wrote a letter of complaint (which they said they never received!!).
Anyway time went on and bill went upto £60 from £30. Was fairly busy and didn't attend to it within 28 day period. Attended on about day 32 and sent payment. They sent a reminder which arrived day after I sent payment with a demand for a further £30. Thought no more of it I had paid all be it a couple of days late.
Today received a demand for the further £30 from the sheriff officers (Scotland).
My question they have have cashed my previous cheque and I thought once they had done that they had accepted my payment as a full and final settlement of the fine. Should they not have returned my cheque and demanded payment for the whole amount in full if they were not happy?

I sent cheque for £60.
£30 if paid within 14 days rising to standard £60 if paid within a further 28 days. As i say I paid about day 32. After cheque posted it had risen to £90!!.0 -
Hi
Dont know if this will help as the rules may have now altered or be slightly different in Scotland....
I used to work in Parking Services and we were always told to return any cheques where a motorist had paid £30 when the fine had gone up to £60 - this was beacuse an encashment could be considered full and final settlement of the fine and the end of the matter.
I would certainly contact them and ask if they can legally demand more money when they have accepted and cashed your original cheque0 -
i was born and bred in glasgow and go home on a regular basis and i can certainly see how you could have got a ticket.. they seemed to have turned most of the city centre into bus lanes, they probably busy with all the other people who got tickets. would write to them and as why they are demanding more as you sent a cheque and they cashed it.. dont leave this one because your busy.. if its from the sherriffs office copy the letter to them as well..Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0
