Simple tip (Cat food)

Hello Money Savers
I was moaning about money the other day and was speaking to a couple of friends about how we're spending more on our two cats now (litter, food etc).
They asked what we feed our cats and we said pouches at which point they told us to not buy anymore and purchase tins instead.
A tin lasts a day (rather than four pouches being used) and we've found the not only do we make less trips to get food, we're saving at least £10 a month in the process. We can recycle the tins too!
I'm sure it's a simple tip but it's been a golden one for us and might help some others too - hence me sharing it.
Cheers

I think it's more environmentally friendly too, as tins can be recycled, pouches rarely can.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. When I first had a cat, this is what I did - can't remember when I switched to pouches! My current cat is 16 and is more prone to illness so goes through periods of not eating much so I now buy small tins from the internet - not so money saving but keeps well and is better to recycle so a win there.1

Mine are on tins, but individual 75g portions. That's the only size available of their preferred food. I have tried some foods that they seemed to like in bigger tins, but one will only eat it fresh from the tin - saving it for later, whether in the fridge or not, or kept in tupperware instead of the can, or saving it til tomorrow so it's not so repetitive makes no difference and offends her delicate palate.
So while it's a good tip, do check with a small amount of big cans first, especially if you have a fuss pot!1 -
Mine won't touch tinned food.
Unless it's tuna in spring water !
Very fussy (my own fault I know) 😏2 -
We have 1 tin (nearly all for our Maine Coon) and 1 pouch nearly all for our 'queen' but a bit going to our middle girl (who has a smaller appetite). We only use pouches because we can't find senior food in tins. Our boy doesn't eat wet food. There is always dry food available as well.I'd much rather we could have all food in tins.May you find your sister soon Helli.

Mine (when I had some....sniff....) always loved tuna in spring water. And when they were really off their food I'd just get them to drink the drained water - it always perked them up.
For those looking for special diet stuff you might want to look a zooplus.
