Hi All

We are due to complete on our new home soon. How long does Land registry typically take to reflect transfer of deeds into our name upon completion?

We just want a rough indication on how long it typically takes so we can review and ensure the title deeds are updated on LR as we need them as well downloading a copy for reference & future sales

Any times advice on how long it typically takes to update between conveyancer update to LR will be appreciated

Thank you

Is this an existing property or a new build?
I believe that rough timescales are 4 months for a TR1 and 16 months for a TP1 (dependent on how many related transactions are in the queue for that title) although I could be way out.
If you post on the dedicated Land Registry questions thread then they'll be able to give you a more accurate answer.

As slithery says:New Builds (TP1s) seem to be taking 12+ months (16 in a recent query on the forum).
Straight forward TR1s are quicker, but still take 4-8 months.
Land registry will 'expedite' registrations where a delay is holding up another transaction.

(from other threads, OP appears to be buying a newbuild)

How long the LR takes to process the registration really isn't as important as you seem to think it is. It takes however long it takes, I doubt anybody can predict the length of any future backlogs.

Apologies for 'hitching a ride' on your thread but we purchased the freehold of our house in January and got a letter from the Management company dated 15th Febraury confirming that they have submitted the application to register our purchase with Land Registry on that date.

Anybody care to speculate how long it will take to complete and is there any method to check the progress of the transaction please?

Not worth worrying about. It will get done when it gets done. I'm still waiting on a title transfer and first electronic registration of a 1960s property from July last year.

    It’s a new build property.

Thank you for the advice all.

So a TP1 then. You're looking at well over a year at the moment although no need to worry about anything. Your purchase was protected from the date your solicitor sent in the forms.

But to put your mind at ease, why not register for the free 'alert' sevice. You can do this for any property, not just one you own, or one registered in your name (I have an alert on my elderly father's house).

If it's a TP1 then what would they be registering the alert against? The title doesn't exist yet on the LR's electronic records...

Isn't a title number allocated as soon as they take on the application?
