So why is your employer not supplying your broadband?

I wfh and there is no way I would risk a switch, ring up and negotiate a better price, but I couldn't risk being without a fast connection, esp as my office is now 270 miles away.
Certainly learnt my lesson. Judging by the poor comments elsewhere inc Twitter, I can only assume the 'happy customers' on here work for Vodafone. In any case, the question is, when it's your service, would you take the risk...

Saying those who are happy with the provider you're upset about obviously work for that provider doesn't do you any favours.  Its the easy way to evaporate any sympathy you might have got from your original complaint.

People are more likely to vent online than those who are happy who are with the service and this applies to anything.  If you were happy with your last provider, any links where your views are posted to praise them?

I was with Virgin for years, great service, just couldn't drop the price, so moved to Post Office, again great service, contract ended, Plusnet again great service, contract ended, Shell was next and now with Vodafone - great service so far, switch over flawless.

As I move provider, I get employed there the same time.

They would not be allowed to under tax law. See https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-which-expenses-are-taxable-if-your-employee-works-from-home-due-to-coronavirus-covid-19

@Jjay Is your Vodafone Broadband on OpenReach or CityFibre? Vodafone Broadband on CityFibre is not covered by the Ofcom automatic compensation scheme. The MoneySavingExpert broadband comparison incorrectly says that it is (see picture) vs info on Vodafone website See https://www.vodafone.co.uk/broadband/auto-compensation-hbb.

I was supposed to be connected to Vodafone Broadband on CityFibre last Wednesday. The CityFibre contractor said they completed the job but it has never worked. I reported it on Thursday (this was a real chore because the chat technician made me jump through many hoops before logging a call even though they should have been able to see that it was not working). I first got a call back from Vodafone on Saturday and only then did they escalate to CityFibre to fix the issue. It is now Monday and I've heard nothing else since.

Maybe if they were paying £5.25 / day (as MoneySavingExpert falsely says that they do) they might fix it a bit faster!

  • I've been more than happy with the performance from Vodafone broadband.
What was annoying though was receiving an email today with the subject line "It's time to renew your broadband".
I've got a whole year to go till my contract ends, so it very much isn't time to renew.
Seems like rather underhand practice from Vodafone.
