I decorate real hard boiled hens eggs and give them to children in my family. I think it shows more involvement than buying mass produced gaudy coloured hollow chocolate at inflated prices
Their parents tell me the children appreciate the novelty
They do receive chocolate eggs too ... usually too many
What has chocolate eggs got to do with Easter anyway?
Or decorated hens eggs and “ Easter Bunnies “

I don’t believe in leftover Easter egg and I certainly don’t have any!

my kids on the other hand take months to eat chocolate. I’ve just finished eating their Xmas chocolate and I suspect there will still be Easter chocolate in the summer. They don’t have masses of chocolate so I’m at a loss as to what takes so long 🤷‍♀️

I went to my local Wal*Mart the day after Easter and they had already cleared the shelves of all the leftover chocolate. I don't know if they just threw it out or passed it along to some organization because there was a lot on Saturday. Scary.

Quite a few slightly reduced eggs in Aldi yesterday.
Cheaper to buy a bar of chocolate.
No chocolate is ever left over in this house!!

My son gets quite a bit of chocolate for Christmas, Easter & birthdays- we just portion it out into little tubs and then I don't need to buy snacks for aaaaaaaages. They go everywhere, there's always something in my handbag then for the inevitable "I'm huuuuuuuungry". (Also very MSE so we don't end up buying snacks when we're out!)

My comments about still eating Christmas 2021 chocolate at Christmas 2022 worked though- this Easter he got money and a token Easter chocolate from everyone, which is a lot more reasonable amount to get through before his birthday (and I'm not tempted to help him eat it either then 🤣)

I remember my childminder doing this for us! My allocated egg was Mr Messy scribbled in pink crayon. It was such a novelty for me as a 4yo, its funny how that tiny bit of thought is memorable several decades on!

My father always did the colored hard-boiled eggs with us. We helped to decorate them with crayon and then dipped in what I think was a combination of vinegar and food coloring. But he also bought chocolate eggs and decorated them with frosting. The leftover frosting was put between two graham crackers. We ate those instead of store-bought cookies along with his homemade chocolate chip cookies which were wonderful. The neighborhood kids called him Mr. Cookie because he would sit out to water the lawn with a basket of cookies beside him for the neighborhood kids. Easter always brings back memories of those decorated eggs.
