Electricity in garage

The OP said they own the land in between.jrawle said:Is the route between the house and garage all across your property, or does it involve crossing a public area, road, pavement, etc.? I'd guess the latter unless you have an older/large house, as 20 metres is quite a long way. That would make running an extension lead (or digging up the road for an electrician to install a cable) less of a good option. It would also explain why there are two separate supplies in the first place.0 -
Are we discussing the cost of disconnecting a power supply?
I thought these were expensive - close to £1000 or higher. Add to this the cost of electrician to run SWA cable to the garage and the cost would be close to £2000 (may be exaggerated!).
We are still talking about years before breaking even. I would probably just stick with the current situation and get a smart meter installed. I'm sure the company will adjust DD according to your usage.“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu
System 1 - 14 x 250W SunModule SW + Enphase ME215 microinverters (July 2015)
System 2 - 9.2 KWp + Enphase IQ7+ and IQ8AC (Feb 22 & Sep 24) + Givenergy AC Coupled inverter + 2 * 8.2KWh Battery (May 2022) + Mitsubishi 7.1 KW and 2* Daikin 2.5 KW A2A Heat Pump0 -
You raise an interesting point re. the disconnection cost, but a £20 extension lead will cover future power supply for the few times it's needed.ispookie666 said:Are we discussing the cost of disconnecting a power supply?
