Meal plan for weekend as we're away at the other house with 4 extra younger ones who are coming to wakeboard with DD2, usually do simple bbq, sausages & chicken, with tabouleh, coleslaw, tomatoes & cucumber. Some sort of pudding will be needed but it might be cake. They're a nice bunch and will all be exhausted & hungry after a day on the water.

Good morning ladies! I've been flying in the kitchen all morning and it looks so much better! I've sorted, cleaned, flung and organised things for three solid hours, so now collapsed on the sofa with a cuppa.
Went out with the girls last night for curry and a few drinks and stuck to my budget, which was great. I also didn't fall in any hedges on the way home, which was a double bonus! Go me!
Had a telephone call with my doctor a few days back and he wants me to get some blood tests done, so I need to pluck up enough courage to arrange and attend for that. I hate needles! Apparently I need tests for lots of things as I've kept under their radar for two years (Covid pandemic helped with that). I'm such a coward.
My financial situation is still dire, but the hens are all starting to lay again, so might pick up a few ££s at the school gate from egg sales.
I'm still trying to get to my dream of Little House on the Prairie but I'm being thwarted at every turn....grrr...10 -
Prescription found and chemist visited
Proxy vote admin done online and we've been to the police station to have our ID checked, so that's all done now
Just the ironing left so I guess once I've made us a cup of something I'd better go and get on with it.9 -
Morning all
Get that appointment made Dizzy. I was the same with the dentist but so relieved when I had been and got it sorted x
Tired this morning, have done most of my hours for the week so it will be a short day at the paid stuff. Yoga first. Weekend looks sunny but windy, hopefully there will be some cycling.
Better get moving.7 -
Good morning, guess what I didn't do the ironing yesterday, but it will get done this morning as I have a load of washing to go on and need the washing basket to take it downstairs (I got rid of the ironing basket to stop the ironing being able to pile up, so there is only ever one load to be done).
Packing to be done to go to the other house, but that is quick and easy as only basic clothes needed. We are picking up DD1 and some of her stuff as she moves out of her accommodation next weekend, and then join DD2 and her friends who are planning a weekend of water sports.
Bed made, clothes picked up, windows open
Pack up made for OH
Lounge tidied
DW done and kitchen tidied
Banking and spending checked
Get those SMILES out, it's nearly the weekend9 -
Morning all.
Yesterday was a much-needed recovery day after the exertions of Tuesday and Wednesday. I did a bit of admin, WMx2 (DH's bedding), S&S'd bathroom and kitchen, and walked Rosie. Other than that, I just sat.
Today I must
- file church paperwork
- ring the church's energy brokers
- ring my insurers and get someone out to deal with my oven, which stopped heating up as I was cooking the roast dinner for DS2 &co on Wednesday - fortunately the meat and pudding were done, but the Yorkshire puddings were a total flop and I had to finish off the parsnips and potatoes in the frying pan
- get cheque envelopes from the PO and pay in
- shop for food - the gannets have eaten me out of house and home
- hopefully do a bit of light gardening
- arrange coffee with a friend next week
My gardener (bird expert) spotted a beautiful little goldfinch's nest in the pyracantha tree, with one egg in it (he has a mirror on a stick*), and at least one of the birds has been flying in and out this morning
* That reminds me of Lame Wolf's duster - any news of her?
Is it really Friday already? This week has flown.
(((Hugs))) spoons and sticks all round, as needed xx9 -
MorningIroning doneSunny here and a little wind.Going to do my steps / walking today, by walking to the vets to collect stronghold for the cats, it is about 2 miles each way, so that should do nicely.Mole hill is even large this morning, it was guarded overnight by next door's cat!
if it collapses owing to the amount of soil that has come out, I will have a large trench running in the garden.

Iona how lovely; we often have several broods of goldfinch families coming to the feeder but I've never found a nest.
Yesterday whizzed by in a blur of another complicated assessment including taking the young lady to make an appt with the MH service; having my drum lesson; walking through Mr T picking up a couple of bargains/stuff I didn't get on Wednesday; inspecting greenhouse (puzzling over why 2 trays of seedlings are totally white and have keeled over); going to a 'bat talk' in our church (we have 4 roosts and don't we who wield the vacuum cleaners know it!) and finally doing a load of admin.
This morning before I go to zumba I've been doing an "improve this room in 10 mins" blitz:
- en suite has had the recycling bin emptied, duplicate moisturiser etc either combined or one put away, dusty spider plant put under the shower.
- bedroom was mainly putting "stuff" away
- Kitchen: emptied DW, did some other washing up, relocated a number of items to their rightful home.
- now spending a little while on a report.
And don't add up that makes only 4 x 10mins when it is already nearly 11am.........Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
Ironing is done, bags packed, cats had flea treatment so now sulking.
Just need to do cat trays, top up their food and water and maybe run the hoover round to pick up the excessive amount of fur they seem to be shedding.
Then it's the weekend9
