Morning all. Not sunny but at least it's dry. Glorious weather over the weekend though. Did the lamb yesterday, will cut it up today for the fridge as we're going to Ohs mums for tea or supper or whatever you call it. I made a tiramisu type thing ysterday, stuck withthe biscuits and coffee and then made a zabaglione type cream with ricotta and eggs and marsala...I LOVE zabaglione and that was a lovely thing. OH has been up all night playing games so I have the computer to myself all day until he surfaces later on. Not planning on doing anything strenuous today, got an early start tomorrow for another art class.Zola, I'd never evenheard of NAS boxes and now that I've googled,I am thinking they'rea pretty good idea. Have they got to be hard wired to stream or can you wifi it up to multiple devices? [more googling require obviously]. Scarlet, enjoy your holiday! camelot, enjoy your new greenhouse..TA,hope it goes soon...Ruby, double delight of shopping and a meal out. Glad you enjoyed! Bella, congratulations! Izzy, what about joining the o/s weight loss thread for some support? Ruby, Nels, thoughts to you and your intractable parents....Take care today folks, hope the sun shines for you...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi15

Morning all
Lovely day here again we have been so lucky with the weather, I have a load of mums washing on the go so that can go on the line.
My sister went to visit mum yesterday as only one allowed so I shall go today,we went round to mums yesterday to tell nephew that he would be being picked up the house was a terrible mess it stunk of the drugs he is constantly smoking no washing up has been done since mum went in to hosp there was rubbish all piled up next to the bin dirty clothes all over and his bedding in a pile on the floor, the sink was completly yellow with greese and stains, it was really awful he is treating it like a doss house, we had terrible trouble getting his mum to pick him up (she just doesnt want him) she said at first that she would bring him some food round then she sais she only has three bedrooms so she couldn't take him, my mum only has one bedroom so he is sleeping on the sofa !! we had to get quite firm with her and say that mum could not cope with him anymore. When my other nephew died this nephew was bought over to stay with mum for a couple of weeks its been a month now and I think they fully intended for him to live there permanently !! And mum has been given no money for his keep.
Anyway his mum turned up late afternoon to collect him (we were watching on the doorbell) she was in mums house for ages and I could hear lots of banging and crashing, once they eventually went I popped round and she has cleaned the kitchen and lounge right through which was good of her but it was her sons mess, they have also left a load of his stuff there I think she is hoping he can come back once mum is out of hospital, but she just cant cope with it so we will have to keep being firm and saying no !
I will go back to mums today to change her bedding and bring the dirty bedding back to wash, I collected her other washing yesterday which is in the wm now so at least she will come home to a clean house, I am in touch with a cleaner too so hopefully she will come twice a week and keep on top of things.
We ended up going to the pub for a meal last night so we will have the squid tonight with chips and salad,
Sorry I seem to have gone on a bit today ! but I do have to say im a bit cross with the boys mum, she has never been a good mum, all the boys are into drugs and none of them are clean she just doesnt want to know when they are past the baby stage or they have problems she then wipes her hands of them !
Bella what lovely news xxxx
Have good days all xxx14 -
Morning everyone and thanks for the start ScarletR, I hope you enjoy your time away.
I got home on Saturday morning, BIL cooked us brunch and then DSis and family went home around lunchtime. I had a shower followed by a bath! We had tickets for a comedy show (booked pre-pandemic and moved 3 times) for the evening in Hertfordshire. The show started at 10pm and went on to midnight. By the time we got back to BFFs house and into bed it was 2am! We got home around lunchtime yesterday and were straight round to other BIL’s for a BBQ. I was shattered last night and had another bath, facemask and slept in my own bed for the first time in over 2 weeks – bliss.
Today we need to meal plan, food shop and do some washing. Day looks to be dry to will get it all on the line. We are having roast beef later.
Ruby – sorry that you’ve all the hassle with nephew as well as doing your best for your DMum. You could really do without all that right now. Hope things improve this week x
Nels – hope DMum is comfortable.
Get well soom TA x
ZolaBuddy – DBAD! Love that expression – wish I could do the same!
Congrats to Bella and family – wonderful news x
Have a good day everyone,
Coxy

I bought a QNAP nasbox a few years ago and basically converted all of my DVDs, films, TV shows, VHS tapes, photos, mp4, avi, mp3 and other media files and dumped the whole lot into structured folders on the encrypted hard drives. Then installed a media centre app like Plex or Kodi to manage the files and stream them across all my devices at home or through the Cloud to anywhere remotely.-taff said:Morning all. Just means I don't have to bother with piles and piles of old DVD and VHS boxsets any more, along with the space they take up in my cupboards. Also makes a nice alternative to streaming sites likes Amazon and Netflix.
Ideally the nasbox should be hard wired by an ethernet cable directly to your router, or via a Powerline Adapter either to the router or a switch block. But you can then use a wireless dongle that you can plug into the nasbox, configure the IP details and share it onto your local network so that any device on the network should be able to pick up the folders and the media files held therein (either with or without a Plex or Kodi thin client installed)

Morning all, we had some rain last night but the sun is back out today.
We had a lovely day with Dad yesterday, well there was only one argument. I wanted him to have his cleaner back as I know he can't manage but he still won't hear of it and made every excuse under the sun. 😡 Anyway he went home after tea with a carrier bag full of food, a few more roast dinners, sandwiches, extra lamb, half a melon etc. After my busy day yesterday I'm under strict orders from Mr Fix It to have a day of sloth, however the bins need to go out tonight, ready for collection tomorrow ( he'll help with those ) and the rabbit needs feeding as always, so I'll pace myself 😂 My jigsaw has been neglected of late so I'll crack on with that today and boy is it a hard one this time, I nearly gave up on it ! There is a fridge full of picky bits and lots of lamb left over so we won't starve.
Scarlet have a lovely break away.
Bella lovely news about the baby. Many congratulations to you, DD2 and here DH.
Izzy wow what a bargain with the salmon !
Hugs to all the poorly ones and those struggling with family problems.
Take care all

@ZolaBuddy Thanks very much for explanation, I did have Kodi for a while a few years ago but never really got the hang of it, installed Plex too but that kind of fell by the wayside. I mostly download and keep on the external hd, but end up keeping way too many things on this computer which is filling up at an alarming rate.I like this idea thanks to a future set up which will involve different computers in different parts of the house but I still want to access everything without it being installed on both.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9

I hope that everyone is enjoying the Bank Holiday. OH and I both feeling very tired - have done quite a lot in the garden while the weather has been so nice. We did manage a stroll in the countryside late morning, somewhere we have been a lot in the last few years, very little traffic on Country Estate roads, but all bridleways so lovely for people and many pooches. We were a bit too near lunch to have the coffees we had promised ourselves, so home to pork pie and pickle, both locally made and very yum.
Sending hugs and positive thoughts to Nelski, Ruby and DMs, TA with the horrid cold and Snoozer and family with special thoughts for the baby.
The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)10 -
