flights cancelled

BA contacted me 6 days before our 6pm Saturday flights to cancel. They offered a new flight at 7 am that day or one arriving at 9.40pm on the Sunday night. As the kids had school on Monday and 7am wasnt logistically possible we accepted the next nearest flight of 9.40 pm on Friday . We will have to get taxis home as public transport not working at the time we get back. we are not delayed... Does this mean no compensation?

Getting to and from the airport is not part of the ticket price so I don't see any basis for a compensation claim.

I would agree. Your increased transportation costs can however be offset from the EU/UK 261 compensation you can probably claim for the short notice cancellation.0

I don't want expenses. I'm asking if accepting an earlier flight means we still get flight cancellation compensation.
