Thanks calcotti so it's the date you get paid not the date you started work, that's the thing I was worried about.

Yes, it's earnings received during your assessment period that count.

The continuing saga of trying to close my carers allowance claim...

I phoned CA up again today and they said it was 'handed off' on 25th May but they would now mark it as urgent and UC should receive the information in the next 48 hours.

I still haven't been back in contact with UC yet because I wanted this CA sorted first. I will leave it until Thursday and put a note in my journal explaining everything, I did that last month but haven't even had a reply or acknowledgment from them.

One question, I got paid £570 on 26th May should those earnings have been taken into account in last month's UC payment.

    Thanks as always xxx

What date are your UC payments? As previously advised payment is only taken into account if it Is received during the period of the UC calculation. If our UC period ended prior to 26th May then the earnings will not be taken into account until the next period.

So the earnings on 26th May fall within the 18th May to 17th June period and will affect your June UC payment.

Just thought I would give you an update.

After numerous phone calls to CA my claim was finally closed on 8th June.  On 12th June I contacted UC explaining everything and as calcotti advised asked them to adjust my payment because of carers allowance ending.  The next day I received a message from UC stating this had been done and the difference in my money should be in the bank within a couple of days which it was.

Today I logged into my UC account and my payment for this month is correct, taking of my earning and no longer receiving CA. UC is actually a higher payment because no CA in payment.

All in all a stress free time contacting and getting replies from UC through my journal, they sorted things out really quickly once they got notification from CA.  Trying to close CA was a bit of a nightmare but got sorted eventually.

Just thanks to all who contributed to this thread and helped me xxx
