This may sound daft and random, but have you logged into the BBC I player app on your tv?It unblocks radio/ tv etc and annoyingly they want you to log in at random times ( like everything these days)

Asking her to whisper might help. Try, "Alexa, enable whisper mode". Once enabled when you whisper to her she should whisper back.
