Good Evening,
I have an appointment with the Romanian consular to get a passport for my daughter. I rang up to ask their opening times as it was on a bank holiday. The person I spoke to said I would need to take an interpreter with us as I am British and do not speak or understand the Romanian language. There was no mention of this requirement when submitting the passport online. Does anyone have any advice for us?

It's not really a Covid-related issue so is probably better posted on the more generic travel planning board rather than this one:

My my son lives and works in Romania and needs his partner to translate legal documents as they are all in Romanian. I expect the passport application process is the same. Do you have contact with any Romanians?

    Hi
Yes we managed to get a translator who will attend the consulate.
It just seemed strange that there was no mention of this requirement when we applied online?

It is stated on the Romanian embassy website.

“All the consular services (except visas) are processed ONLY in the Romanian language.”

    Yes of course.
It is a Romanian passport we are applying for.
My query was there was no mention of having to get a translator (when we applied online) to attend our visit.

However as onashoestring states, these services are provided only in Romanian language which is clearly on the website.

One of the Romanians in UK Facebook groups may be able to help you if you're stuck.
