iD mobile SIM not working in new Samsung

I've recently purchased a new unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and after 3 months of working fine infuriatingly it's now only very intermittently connecting to the network for data and calls with my longstanding iD SIM. It's on emergency calls only basically all the time now apart from when WiFi calling is turned on it then it recognises the iD SIM perfectly.

APN settings look correct. Is this likely to be a fault with the SIM or with the phone?

More likely to be a problem with the nearby Three cellular mast, unless anyone around you on Three or ID have no such problems.

Thanks but unfortunately I experienced the same problems when away from home in London yesterday.

I have had similar issues a few times with iD mobile over the last 6 months or so.
The most recent one related to an outage on the Three network (didn't think to check the first few times, as thought it was my mobile).

2 of the instances were in London too.

Have you checked Three network for outages:

And do you have you old mobile, or another one to try the SIM in?

Thanks, no current outage according to that link.

Just checked the SIM in my previous phone and worked fine.

This has an old fashioned direct connection though instead of the fiddly tray thingy in the new blower. Could a slight invisible scratch from repeated removal/reinsertion of the (8+yrs old) SIM be the cause of the fault?

Wondering whether to splash out £5 on a replacement iD SIM first before proceeding with the relatively nuclear option of sending the whole device off for repair ☹️
  • Do you have another working sim you could try in the phone first before trying the sim-swap option? Could even try a 50p PAYG from your local Asda (no need to top up to try connection and incoming calls).

Tried 2 other SIMs with no luck. Must be a hardware fault with the phone. Harrumph ☹️

Where did you purchase the phone from? It could be blocked, you can purchase a Checkmend report for a couple of £s to check.

John Lewis. Very occasionally it will connect briefly to the network so it's some sort of intermittent fault.
